Terms of use.
The short version: don’t use NOR Bit to trick, harm or spam people. If you do, your links stop working and your API keys stop working. NOR Bit is free and comes with no guarantees.
Last updated 3 October 2026.
What you can’t use it for
Don’t make links, by hand or through the API, that lead to or are used for:
- phishing, scams, fake shops or pages pretending to be someone else;
- malware, or downloads that do something other than what they claim;
- spam: links sent to people who didn’t ask for them, in bulk;
- content that is illegal, or that harasses, threatens or exposes someone;
- hiding where a link really goes in order to mislead the people who click it.
And don’t try to get around NOR Bit’s limits: collecting API keys from many addresses, or changing a link’s destination back and forth to slip past checks or reports.
Your links
You’re responsible for where your links go. A link made on this site always goes where it went when it was made. A link made through the API can be pointed somewhere else by the key that made it; when that happens, the link’s page shows that it changed, and the earlier destinations are kept. You can delete a link you made; its address is then retired and never given to anyone else. A link that has been reported or switched off can’t be deleted until it has been checked.
What NOR Bit does about abuse
- Every destination is checked with Google Safe Browsing before it is saved, and addresses Google lists as phishing or malware are refused.
- Anyone can report a link from its page. When several people report it, visitors see a warning before they continue, until it has been checked. If more people report it, or it is on Google’s lists, it is switched off.
- NOR Bit may switch off any link, or revoke any API key, that it believes breaks these terms, at any time and without notice. A key may be revoked together with every link it made.
- Switched-off links and revoked keys are kept, marked, not deleted: they are the record of what happened.
The API
The API is free, within the limits listed on its page, which may change. Keep your key secret: anything done with it counts as done by you. Getting a key means you accept these terms.
Privacy
NOR Bit counts clicks without recording who made them: no IP addresses, no cookies on the redirect, no request logs. How it works lists exactly what is and isn’t kept, and the pages on bit.normake.com use Google Analytics.
No guarantees
NOR Bit is provided as it is, for free. It may be unavailable at times, may lose data, and may change or end. It is not responsible for the sites links lead to, or for anything that comes of using it. Don’t rely on it for anything you can’t afford to lose.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Using NOR Bit after a change means accepting the new version.
Contact
To report a harmful link, use the report page, or “Report this link” on the link’s own page. For anything else, the footer links to the people who run NOR Bit.
